My Passion

Over the last few years, I’ve noticed that there’s a growing need for branding in small business. Whilst big corporations and larger businesses can spend many hundreds of thousands of dollars on their branding, small business owners often struggle to firstly get their head around the whole concept of branding, logos and websites, and then to know where to start and who can help, without needing to take out a mortgage to pay for it. As a result I’ve niched my own business to help those in small business to create their branding and online presence in an effective, unique and authentic way.

Branding is not just a logo, it’s a combination of all the things that make you YOU! There’s a huge shift happening in our world and we are learning to connect from a heart space, to build meaningful relationships with trust and integrity. Gone are the days of ‘fake it til you make it’, and here we are in evolving times when humans are connecting intuitively through emotion and awareness. I think this is beautiful. So as we Solopreneurs come forward and want to share our gifts and love, we need to create our own brand or identity that connects us with our clients in a meaningful way. So, as I said, branding isn’t just a logo, it’s a blend of colour, images, fonts and words that create your unique flavour with purpose and passion.

A bit of history

I’ve always worked within the ‘arty’ industry and have done lots of different things, including window dressing for Myer in various stores all over Australia. I’ve made salad rolls and served hot pies to tradesmen on building sites, worked as a ticket writer hand painting signs for a large shopping complex and become adept at embroidery design for corporate wear. I’ve written and designed national awards events presentations, designed menus, hand-made table centre-pieces, run the craft stall at my children’s school fete, designed mouse-mats, sold lighting, mastered MYOB and invoicing, and hand-painted craft items to sell at markets. Most recently I’ve created many logos, I’ve designed signage for cars and shopfronts, for office stationery, business cards, websites, facebook profiles, advertisements, book covers and typesetting, e-books… and on it goes.

I was born and raised in Canberra, and moved to Queensland in the mid eighties. My husband and I raised three awesome kids, I’ve built a house or two, renovated one, recently cared for my aging parents, am a Reiki practitioner, love yoga and meditating, and drove the same old car for 21 years without air-conditioning. Oh, and I’m learning to paint with pastels! Why? Because it makes me happy, and I love to be happy!

Experience

While my husband trekked his way over the Kokoda Track – twice – I trekked my way through a BA Uni degree in Communications, Marketing and Design, graduating in 2003. Since then I have worked as a graphic designer and communicator in the advertising and design industry on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. I’ve been blessed to work with some great local designers, continually learning new skills and advancing my knowledge, even reluctantly dipping my toe into html and php coding and building the odd website here and there. I don’t build websites anymore because I don’t enjoy the technical challenges, but I do design them and I have a couple of awesome competent web developers to do the technical bits so I can offer you the service and help you through the process.
